An NLP tool - The Swish
I use the swish with clients who come for sessions at Deep Dive Therapy.
I also use it with clients for hypnotherapy in London

I would just now like you to think of a
situation which you allow to get you stressed and would like to be different,
or perhaps something you do that you would prefer to stop doing. Or perhaps
times when you might eat in a way that you don’t like. Maybe you find that you
eat often late at night or perhaps -- binge a little.
Okay and when you are ready -- just close your
eyes and see an image of that behavior that you would like to change. --Really
do your best to actually BE in that image and see what you would normally see
and hear all that you would normally hear. Really notice everything that you
would normally see at that time as it is in real life. Okay so when you have
that image – just now put that aside.
--Next I would like you to create an image of
how things will be when you have that behavior or event exactly as you
really would like it to be - your ideal for that situation
– when you are in control and acting in the
way you would really truly like to.
--Really be in that image – and notice in
detail what is happening – really see this new image and enjoy watching it.
Make it a bright picture – make the colours motivating and the sounds just
right – just ensure that it's really the goal that you would love to achieve
with that behavior.
--Okay, so now I would like you to take this
new exciting and motivating image and make it smaller and smaller and into a
ball of light -- which you will push to the distance or down into the corner.
Now with that ball of light in the corner –
make the main picture now--- that first picture of that original behavior which
you would like to change. Have that first picture as your main picture -- with
the ball of the new behavior just sitting there in the corner..Good
-- Now the next part must be done very quickly
and as you do it – please say the word woosh or swish -- as well
-- as you do it..
I would
like you to -- very quickly explode that ball of light, that new bright motivating
picture, so that it – engulfs and overcomes the old picture. Do this really
quickly and say woosh
-Explode the ball so that it overcomes and
overwhelms the old picture, so that the old one gets overpowered and loses its
life and power and disappears – Do this really really quickly. Really see that
old picture lose its color -- as you now overwhelm it -- with the new picture.
Do this really quickly.
And now just enjoy looking and feeling this
new picture of -- how things are and when you have done that – You can open
your eyes
